About Us

The Hugs over Hate campaign was started at KC's Restaurant in Guilford, CT.  It was created after the Pulse Night Club shooting in Orlando Florida in 2016.  Graphic designer Brittany Whiteman created the logo to raise money for the victims of the shooting.

Kelly Carney loved the logo and its message, so she put it on her employee shirts at her restaurant.  She carried on with the message in honor her sister, Kaitlin Carney, who passed away in 2007 after loosing her battle with addiction.  Kaitlin was kind, sincere, and always there for people.  It is Hugs Over Hate's mission to celebrate Kaitlin's kindness and caring heart by giving back to organizations that promote love, understanding, unity, and spread kindness throughout communities.
